BFI Finance Plants Mangroves for Social, Economic, and Environmental Sustainability Program

Cirebon, December 5, 2021 – In order to realize its commitment to create a balance in building a sustainable business, improving community’s standard of living, and supporting environmental conservation, PT BFI Finance Indonesia Tbk (BFI Finance) initiated the ‘Ride to Plant’ program. The program was accomplished by employees through bicycling while stopping by at some places to hold nature conservation activity of planting mangrove trees.

“Mangroves are one of the signs of environmental improvement that is in line with national development. When mangrove forests are well maintained, mangrove trees become the habitat for marine biota that is economically significant for communities. Another instance, mangrove forests are largely used as ecotourism destinations that also provide sources of income for surrounding communities,” said Francisca Susilawati, Head of Corporate Communication & CSR of BFI Finance.

The program was held simultaneously in four cities, namely Cirebon, Semarang, Makassar, and Bontang on December 5, 2021 with a thousand mangrove seedlings in total to be planted in coastal areas intended for environmental conservation. BFI Finance teamed with Yayasan LindungiHutan as the partner for planting, replacing, and monitoring mangroves periodically in the four locations.
