South Tangerang, May 6, 2020 - Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a very high demand on personal protective equipment (PPE) for medical staff working in medical facilities. Driven by appreciation and concern for medical workers, PT BFI Finance Indonesia Tbk (BFI Finance) donated 5,000 sets of PPE in the form of hazardous material (hazmat) suits, which have been distributed to more than 70 medical facilities across Indonesia since early in April. The donation was distributed using safe mechanism for volunteers that is by complying with health protocols suggested by the government.
The donated hazmat suits were assured to have been made under proper standards and safe to be given to various medical facilities in order to protect medical workers when treating patients. The medical facilities that have received donation from BFI Finance included, among others, Sari Asih Ciputat Hospital (South Tangerang), Ummu Hani Hospital in Purbalingga (Central Java), Somba Opu Community Health Center (Puskesmas) in Gowa (South Sulawesi), Citra Utama Clinic in Palembang (South Sumatera), and dr. Doris Sylvanus Regional General Hospital in Palangka Raya (Central Kalimantan). Besides given to COVID-19 referral hospitals in various areas, the donation similarly reached regular medical facilities that are not designated as referral hospitals under the fact that they have also received many patients of people without symptoms (OTG), people under monitoring (ODP), and patients under surveillance (PDP).
BFI Finance’s concern did not only encompass medical workers. Since the announcement of first confirmed COVID-19 cases in Indonesia, the company has implemented tight health protocols for employees and customers at BFI Finance headquarters and all operational offices in an effort to cut the chain of COVID-19 transmission. This is a part of BFI Finance’s active role in calling on society to involve in the #BersamaCegahCorona (#PreventCoronaTogether) campaign.
